Protein Supplements

People have asked me about my opinion on protein supplements for muscle gain.

I given it some though and done some research and have come to some conclusions. Protein supplements, should we be using them?

Protein supplements claim faster lean muscle growth, less fat and great results. Everyone who is interested in gaining muscle has heard about them. The allure for better results is very tempting. The question is: do protein supplements work?

After some study my answer would be, yes and no. They will work for someone who is not getting enough protein. Proteins are needed for the body to grow. If no proteins are present, then problem (which can be address in other articles) will occur. If the athlete is following a balanced diet, eating from the basic food groups, then the protein supplementation should not be necessary.

Are all proteins alike, the simple answer would be no. If an athlete is going to go without a supplement then he/she should eat a variety of complete proteins. This could include meat products, beans, rice and other items. It would be very difficult to get all the needed proteins from vegetables.

To sum up, are proteins supplements necessary. Yes, if you are not eating a balanced, healthy diet. However, if you are eating a good balanced diet then the protein supplements are not necessary, just costly.
